EuskoTran has been awarded the “Eureka Award” for innovation and corporate management

31/03/04 - EuskoTran, the Bilbao Tram Service, was awarded the “Eureka Award” for innovation and corporate management last March 25th. Together with EuskoTran, COORVISOR (for its support of groups with labour integration difficulties), NORAY BIOINFORMATICS S.L. (award to the most original young corporate idea) and OLGA ALGAR, former chairperson of the Association of Women Managers (for her excellent professional career) also won prizes.

EuskoTren’s General Manager, José Miguel Múgica, received the prize awarded to EuskoTran, presented by the Employment and Training Representative of the Bizkaia Regional Government, Sabino Arana.

This is the IV edition of the EUREKA AWARDS, organised by the Basque labour newspaper “eureka”. This is a monthly gazette, published by Ediciones Abando, S.L. Its contents cover the following issues: municipal news concerning employment, corporate initiatives, labour safety, women and employment, training, employment offers and demands, etc.

OTHER WINNERS

The prize to the integration of groups with labour integration difficulties went to COORVISOR, the Biscay co-ordinating agency for deaf people. This is a non-profit organisation that has been declared of public interest and comprises the following associations: Basauri association for the deaf, Duranguesado association for the deaf, SEINU (Biscay Cultural Association for the Deaf) and APASBI (Parents Association of the Biscay School for the Deaf).

The award for the most original young corporate idea went to the company NORAYBIO, dedicated to the design, development, production and sale of software for the biotechnological sector as well as other products related with the pharmaceutical, investigation, health and the food & agriculture sectors. Their products are also intended for other agents who perform biological investigations such as hospitals, investigation centres, etc.

Finally, the award to the most exemplary professional career went to Olga Algar, former chairperson of the Biscay Association of Businesswomen and Women Managers. When Olga Algar promoted the Biscay Association of Businesswomen and Women Managers, together with other business women, she realised the importance of associations to boost awareness of businesswomen and women managers. She held the position for 8 years and is now the Honorary Chairperson of the association. She is also the vice-president of OMEGA (National Association of Businesswomen and Women Managers). In 1968 she established the publicity agency DEIMOS PUBLICIDAD, of which she is currently the manager.
