The Company runs the concessions regarding transport which were transferred from the Spanish Administration to the Basque Autonomous Administration under August 25th 2488/78 Decree. However, the entity was working since 1979.

The story of this Company dates back to a tradition at the end of the XIXth Century. EuskoTren is the trade name since 1996, and the company runs the railway and road transport of both passengers and goods, within the Basque Autonomous Community

EuskoTren also makes researches regarding railway, cable or road transport, and runs some public museums relating to transport. All these activities are usually performed in Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa.
